The Challenge

Praxis Capital Partners, a Korean private equity fund, was evaluating a prospective leading international school in Hanoi as its first investment in Vietnam and engaged FiinResearch to conduct a commercial due diligence to get in-depth understanding of market growth potentials, the target company’s business attractiveness, its market positioning as well as benchmarking with other peers in Hanoi, which are evidenced by “on-the-ground” data-driven analysis.

The Solution

We collected and conducted in-depth analysis of data on Vietnam education sector as well as private general education schools in Hanoi, focusing on international and bilingual segments. In addition, leveraging our extensive business network, we implemented in-person discussions with representatives from leading international schools in Hanoi to collect further insights and validate our data and assessment.

Results

The deliverables of the project are as follows:

• In-depth analysis on Vietnam education sector and international school segment in Hanoi, covering market structure, market size, segmentation, key growth drivers, legal regulations, and government incentives for the sector etc.,
• Independent forecast on addressable market for international and bilingual schools in Hanoi.
• Competitive landscaping amongst the target company and other peers in Hanoi in terms of business strategy, target markets, education programs, campus location/network, teaching facilities, tuition fee and so on.

In Jun 2020, 6 months after the completion of the commercial due diligence, Praxis Capital Partners (Korea), together with some other institutional investors, closed the deal to purchase a majority stake in the international school in Hanoi.
