Energy sector including renewable energy such as solar and wind in Vietnam has been a key priority of Vietnamese government for many years. Various schemes introduced to encourage for participation from private sector in financing and implementing this initiative. However, there have been lack of overall picture especially the financing demand and available source of funds to help Vietnam execute it as planned
Solution:
FiinResearch was selected by the World Bank to conduct a comprehensive study for the financing demand and gap analysis in meeting the development plan set out by the Government The research also involves reviewing various financing schemes such as PPP and BOT for expressways in Vietnam It also involves the survey and in-depth interviews with more than 20 existing and potential financing organisation including banks, infrastructure funds, other international lenders and local developers in identifying technical and commercial issues in financing such important projects.
Results:
Key findings were presented to WB and FiinResearch team also made a presentation to Vietnamese counterparts i.e. Ministry of Industrial and Trade; Certain policies and initiatives have been developed or modified from the research. The paper also used by the Ministry of Industrial and Trade in their policy papers to the Government and other international financing partners
