StoxPlus is pleased to introduce Vietnam Coffee Report 2015. This issue is written by DEPOCEN and released by StoxPlus. The report presents a board range of topics, including both global market overview and Vietnam coffee market analysis.

Besides an overview on Vietnam coffee market size and competition dynamics, the report also provides deep insights on five forces analysis of Vietnam coffee market, financial ratio as well as analysis on main exported markets for Vietnamese coffee. The report is expected to provide useful market information for new companies or investors looking to penetrate into the market, as well as existing coffee companies to get an updated view on the market.

Below are the most critical findings in this issue:

1)   The world's coffee consumption continued to grow by 1.1% to the level of 8.9 million metric tons (MT) in 2014. Coffee production fell slightly in 2014 by 3.5% to 8.5 million MT mainly due to the disease outbreak in Central America. The world's total export value recovered to USD 31.6 billion in 2014 after two successive years of decline, representing a growth rate of 10.8%. The international market price of coffee bounced back in 2014, but was still lower than in 2011.

European union is the leading import market with 2499 MT coffee imported in 2014, following by United States of American and Japan with 1426MT and 450MT, respectively

2)   By 2019, the world’s coffee consumption forecasts to continue to grow steadily at 2.0-2.5% per annum to reach the level of over 10 million MT. The coffee production, despite fluctuating on year-to-year basis, will also grow at a CAGR of 1.0-2.0% to attain the volume of about 9.5 million MT in 2020 in order to meet the increasing demand.

3)   Vietnam's coffee consumption continued to grow. About 122 thousand MT of coffee was consumed in 2014, representing an increase of 8.3% on 2013 and a CAGR of 8.2% over 2011-14.  This steady growth can be attributed to the expansion of the retail coffee shops and the growth of retail food service subsectors, which serve coffee.

4)   Vietnam's coffee production, despite dropping, continued to stay at high level of 1.7 million MT in 2014, about 5.6% less than in 2013. Vietnam was expected to earn about USD 3.2 billion from coffee export in 2014, increasing by 24% compared to the previous year. The coffee trading subsector in Vietnam was in unhealthy financial situation over the period 2009-13. As the world's coffee market went through a significant downturn in the period 2011-13, and only started to recover in 2014, the competition in coffee export subsector may be driven up.

5)   Top five leading companies in Vietnam coffee market includes Intimex Group, Tin Nghia Corporation, Louis Dreyfus Commodities (LDC) Vietnam, Simexco Daklak, and Olam Vietnam
